Why we teach
The course is the same week as the work
Everyone who teaches here spends the rest of the week building models, testing systems or shipping software for clients. The examples are the ones we hit that month, not a case study from a decade ago, and when somebody asks "does that actually work in production?" the answer comes from having tried it.
It also means we teach what we would want a colleague to know — including the parts that are tedious, and the parts where the popular answer is wrong.

What we run
Applied machine learning
Framing a problem, being honest about data, training something that works, and the harder part: keeping it working once it is in front of real users.
Optimisation with CPLEX and Gurobi
Turning a scheduling or allocation problem into a model a solver can answer, reading what it tells you, and knowing when the answer is good enough.
Secure coding
For developers, in your own stack. The vulnerability classes that keep appearing in real assessments, and how they are actually introduced.
Web and API testing
Working through a target the way an assessment does — recon, access control, logic flaws — on systems built to be broken.
How they run
Short, hands-on, small
Courses run over a few weeks, a session at a time, so you can keep working while you do one. Most of each session is spent doing rather than watching, and the group is kept small enough that everyone gets looked at properly.
Everything runs in an environment we provide — nothing to install, nothing aimed at a system you do not own. You keep the material, the code and the environment afterwards.
Sessions run in English or Portuguese, in person or remote.
Join an open course
Book a place on the next intake. Useful if you are moving into security or machine learning from another part of engineering, or if you have been doing it alone and want to know what you have missed.
Tell us your background when you enquire and we will say plainly whether the course is right for you — including when it is too basic.
Run one inside your company
The same courses taught against your own stack, your own threat model and, where you want it, your own code. Teams usually get more from this than from a generic syllabus, because the examples are theirs.
We can also build something specific to a system your team is about to inherit.
Plainly
What this is not
It is not certification. Nothing here awards a badge that a recruiter screens for, and we will not pretend otherwise — if a certificate is what you need, buy the certificate. What you leave with is the ability to do the work, and a project of your own that someone experienced has read closely and criticised.
Nor is it a pipeline into recruitment. People who take a course are welcome to apply for a job like anyone else, and it earns them nothing extra.
